Black Lantern has just returned from our latest show at Albany Law School in New York. We had an amazing trip upstate that gave us an opportunity to get out into the Catskills and to perform for an engaged crowd of students, faculty, and community-members. The show on Monday night took place in a beautiful venue with giant skylights: we began in the low light of sunset, and, as the show wore on, the darkness of evening set in. It was a fitting space and time for the performance.

We owe our gratitude to Professor Keith Hirokawa, Genevieve Trigg and the Trigg Family, the Environmental Law Society, ELS members including Anna Binau and Charlie Gottlieb, Marcy Stengel and the Environmental Advocates of New York, and Mario and the crew at Elda’s on Lark. We cannot express how welcome and at home we felt among our friends new and old in Albany.

In addition to spurring some great dialogue, this show set the stage for exploring new frontiers for our project including a greater emphasis on creating campus-community partnerships with environmental groups like the Environmental Advocates of New York. We are also encouraged by a group of Albany Law students who are considering carrying the Black Lantern in to the backcountry of upstate New York and writing a bit about their experiences.

A huge thanks to everyone who came out. Black Lantern Synergy is already looking forward to returning to the Northeast. If you were at the show, let us know what you thought . . . we appreciate the opportunity to continue the Cartesian Eco-FemDarkanism conversation.

Now it is on to Berkeley for Earth Day!
